Choosing a Campsite:
Locate your site at least 200feet away from the natural water source. Select a site that has already been used, to eliminate further expansion of the area. Stay away from “beauty spots” so that others can enjoy the solitude (i.e. streams, lakes, meadows, and trails), and decrease your visual impact on others visitors. When camping with a group, be aware of leaving room for other campers who may want to use the area. Remember that others have come to the same location to enjoy the solitude, so try to keep voices low and respect privacy.

Caveman Television (Fire):
Keep fires small. If having a fire is permitted, use only wood that you bring, or dead and downed wood of a 4 inch diameter or less. Use existing fire rings – never make a new one. Avoid burning trash, especially plastics because, by doing so, it releases harmful chemicals and pollutants into the atmosphere. If you packed it in, you can pack it out!

Food Disposal and Washing Dishes:
Scrape dishes of all food IMMEDIATELY into a garbage bag for proper disposal, so that you avoid having the residue harden. Using your spoon and water with no soap, scrape any stubborn food particles. Disperse the wash water 200 feet away from any water sources and campsites. Before each meal, your leaders will sterilize your dishes by submerging them into boiling water for 60 seconds.
