Aztec Adventures Primary Leaders and Leads
These are the folks who lead and coordinate the trips for Aztec Adventures
Jim Lustig
Jim is the Aztec Adventures Program Coordinator. He is a professor in the Rec. Department at SDSU, as well as being a Wilderness Education Association Instructor. Jim is the backbone of the program and is a proficient kayaker, canoeist, backpacker, caver, fly fisherman, river rafter and is very experienced in expeditionary outings.
Steve Stone
Steve graduated from SDSU with a degree in Outdoor Recreation. For the past few years he has been the Aztec Adventures Team Challenge lead. Steve has worked with groups ranging from youth to professionals helping them achieve their goals. In addition to being an Aztec Adventure Primary Leader, Steve has also been instructing backpacking and facilitation courses at SDSU. Steve has a passion for adventure based wilderness experiences and working with others.
Roberto Gutiérrez
Roberto is the Aztec Adventures Graduate Assistant. He is working on his PhD. In Language and Communicative Disorders. Roberto specializes in kayaking and rock climbing as well as being a team building and ropes course facilitator.
Pete Muffeloetto
Pete is the Rock Wall Lead for Aztec Adventures. He is currently an undergraduate student at SDSU pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Pete enjoys surfing, snowboarding, rock-climbing, and long walks on the beach. Pete has a passion for the educational aspect of climbing and sharing it with others.
Christina Tyndall
Christina is the Outings Lead Supervisor for Aztec Adventures. She is an undergraduate student at San Diego State University pursuing a double major in Business Management and Child Family Development. Christina's favorite outdoor pursuits consists of snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and reading under big shady trees. Her favorite part of working with Aztec Adventures is the opportunity it gives her to meet new people and share new outdoor experiences with them.
Scott Schaad
Scott is a Senior in Hospitality and Tourism Management. He has been with Aztec Adventures for three years. Scott also works for the Mission Bay Aquatic Center teaching water-sports. He enjoys anything that sets him outdoors and on the water. “Aztec Adventures gives me the opportunity to visit some amazing places and share my passion for the wilderness.”
Jason Payne
Jason is the Outings Lead Supervisor and an SDSU graduate with a degree in Business Management. Jason rekindling his passion for the outdoors while taking Recreation 305, and has since found it almost impossible to be indoors for longer than an hour at a time. He spends the majority of his time in the outdoors paddling, climbing, or facilitating team challenge programs. He has been involved in Aztec Adventures for almost 2 years and has most enjoyed the opportunity it has provided for sharing the outdoors, and his experiences, with others.
